//BROWN PALLETE

 Vess wears:
shirt: Dotti
Trench: Vintage Target
Boots: Op-shopped
Skirt: Savers
Scarf: Pashmina
Bag: Singapore
Turkish Bread: Victoria Market. (yah.)

Hello lovelies!

Here's an outfit that I wore a while ago, while it was still gloomy and overcast!
If you recognise the trench from Savers then you are right! It's the vintage trench that I got for a really great price. Love love love Savers.

Anyways. I really stayed with a brown palette that even comes through with my choice of breakfast. Turkish bread! I don't know about you but I love toasted turkish bread with olive spread. (If you don't know what olive spread is you are missing out)

However, I definately need to explore more ways to wear this trench, possibly with the inclusion of some colour. Any ideas dear stylish readers?

//BLUE LACE

Yes, so I bought a new dress for a design bash we went to a while back. Again, one of the occasional purchases of mine which I bought 'new'. Too hard not to resist! The sales lady (who was so lovely) used the  well known line, "there's not much left' and 'I've had  many interested in it' to win me over and make the purchase!

I think this dress encompasses the colour blocking and lace trend currently flouting around. I love both trends at the moment, the colours make drab days all the more brighter!

As you can see my wardrobe is featured in the background. Stuffed full with clothes and things which I don't want to let go of, it's always the place which I spend a good 15 minutes of my day, just pondering.
It's quite a bad habit, having soooo much to wear but just not knowing WHAT to wear.

Been wanting to purchase a good pair of shoes, particulary some heels. In the past I've tended to steer away from heels. Cause of my height, heels aren't really neccessary. But no longer! (I've been swayed by gorgeous Tony Bianco shoes I saw in Melbourne Central!)

So I'm on a look out for some heels but not sure which brands are a good buy, any suggestions?

//RUN AWAY RED

Whose afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

A pop-up book that was based on the concept of "Once Upon A Time"
I always thought the story of Red Riding hood as extremely odd. Why on earth does her grandma live so very far away in some mysterious wood? Really, if I was Mrs Riding Hood I would have put Grandma in a nice retirement home and save Red the trouble of getting tricked by an anthropomorphic wolf.

Was an interesting/challenging experience making this thing! I can tell you that I will not be making another pop-up anytime soon!

//BITE ME

Yes, we like to paint, on pretty much anything!

Wasn't sure whether this was a keep crafty or a keep smiling post, but nevertheless, hopefully this will inspire you to take the everday objects and make them extraordinary!

Melbourne weather has not been it's kindest to us recently.
Not one of the best feelings, when you organise a picnic and it rains.

//STRIPES AND APPLES

-Val-
Pants: Thrifted
Mustard Shirt: Brisbane
Blazer: Target
Necklace: Diva
Belt: Somewhere in our drawer

These pics were taken quite a while back, I think, in winter time, cause I remember being quite cold when taking these pictures. Sorry, my face doesn't feature in this post, I was having a bad hair day, (basically my fringe wasn't behaving itself.)

Let me tell you about the pants I'm wearing. Basically, their very tailored looking pants, of a  slightly faded dark  blue colour with beautiful embrodied detail on  the pockets. Found and successfully thrifted  in a church opshop in Camberwell and these pants cost me......$1!

Yay! I love cheap buys!
Would love to hear of some of your favourite purchases or places to shop!

Been thinking about the fashion industry lately and it's hold over culture and consumerism. Been very tempted to set myself a challenge, to not buy anything new for a couple of months. Except maybe shoes, it's a bit difficult to find my size!

Enjoy the beautiful sunshine and hope you're enjoy God's creations and beauty!

//PAT and STICK

Well, to put it simply, this would have to be the best combination of all things yummy and delicious which has ever walked the planet!!

Introducing, Pat and Stick's icecream sandwich. I'm not sure if you noticed but Vess and I don't really have much fascination for food, (we prefer the packaging around the food!) but we do love great products which have been well made and designed.

Here's a lttle background to the Pat and Link company:

"Turning one day to the subject of ice cream, we both agreed that most ice cream in Australia was pretty ordinary.  so we thought, why don’t we start an ice cream company? After all, everyone loves an ice cream sandwich, but a good one was hard to come by. Hence the Pat and Stick’s Homemade Ice Cream Sandwich was created."

I also watched this lovely video (which is unfortunately on vimeo so I can't insert it here) where it describes the process and the love and care which goes into their small business

But you can click on this to watch the video, which I highly recommend!

Pat and Stick were such lovely people and so convincing that all of us ended up buying one each!
When asked what he wants customers to feel when eating a Pat and Stick icecream sandwich, Stick replied, "Happiness, satisfaction, a flavour hit and  something they'll remember" and "to want to tell their friends"

Love it!

Check out their website too, to see their lovely flavours!

//meet THE SWINGER

Well, the other day my mum and I went to the op shop, as you do on your spare afternoons. And I spied this delightful treasure! A Polaroid, 'Swinger'. From the moment I glimpsed it I knew I had to have it.

But did I buy it?  sad to say I didn't.

But I can still appreciate it from afar! I really love the packaging , the overall design of the manuel and basically what makes this quirky looking camera just....amazing!

Wish I had bought it. But I did have a flip throught the manuel and it looked quite complicated to use. Additionally I wasn't too sure where/how I would be able to buy film for it. These facts usually wouldn't have detered me, but the price did, ($25!)

Ahh, just did a google search on it, and here's some interesting things to note from the friendly source of Wikipedia:

"The Polaroid Model 20 "Swinger" was a popular Land Camera produced by the Polaroid Corporation between 1965 and 1970. At $19.95 USD it was the first truly inexpensive instant camera, a fact that helped fuel its enormous popularity and made it one of the top-selling cameras of all time. The Swinger was especially successful in the youth market due to its low price, stylish appearance, and catchy "Meet the Swinger" jingle sung by Barry Manilow in a television advertisement featuring a young Ali MacGraw"

And for your viewing enjoyment!

//DAWDALING

-Vess-
Shoes: Famous Footwear
 Jacket: Mum
Backpack: Mum
Oversized sweater: Aunties'
Ring: Diva

I love braided hair, it looks so elegant and quite simply, beautiful. Even one strand of hair braded can make you look so folky and sweet.

Nothing too special about these pics except probably the oversized jumper which belonged to our Aunty. I think in a few years time, it could be considered Espirt vintage! (haha, hopefully)

Mostly wanted to share some pictures where I thought Vess was simply glowing!

Thanks to all our friends and family who' ve been encouraging us with our blog. I love it when people come up and say "I've seen your blog!" or they'll ask questions to the degree of, "Did you wear that top on your blog?"and "Did you really draw that picture?".

I think I'm more proud of the fact that I know such wonderful friends who speak such kind words, than the fact that people are enjoying our blog posts (but I love that as well!).

Hope you're enjoying Spring!

// ORDER-SPACE-BEAUTY

WOW.
can't say much else.
WOW.

A question can be posed, is this the creation of art or the capturing of art?

Either way, it is a celebration of pattern, symmetry, space, beauty, intelligence and simplicity
