//JOY within PHOTOS

As I mentioned in our previous post, I reckon weddings are the coming together of two families, in joy, celebration and love. And above you can see the seperate groups which come together to celebrate Jon and Steph's engagement!

The photos above ,in order (church friends, Oxley, Press family, Chin family)

You may have noticed the excessive amounts of; props, hats and deco within the pictures. Let me explain, well, for Jon and Steph's engagement we were approached and asked by the lovely Steph to take photos for the day. (of course we said yes!!) Being the creative enthusiast I am, I took this opportunity to combine my crafty and photography passions to create a PHOTOBOOTH!

I've seen photobooths being done at numerous weddings and I reckon it's such a wonderful way for friends to come together and laugh and to create a fun, memorable activity for the day. I loved it so much when people would come up hesistantly to ask for a photo and when they 'oooooed' and 'ahhhhed' at the different props which we brought from home!

And of course we had  to have a photo too!

Next post, I'll detail how we made the props and where my inspiration came from!

//J & S

Well, our weekend was quite wonderful in the sense, that a lovely couple by the names of, Jon and Steph, celebrated their recent engagement by throwing a bbq! There was terrific food, lovely company and some really fun mingling! All the foodies and goodies that you see here, was prepared by Jon's mum. I'm not ashamed to say, I had my fair share of cookies, meringues and cupcakes!

Jon and Steph are such a beautiful, wonderful, inspiring (and good looking!) couple who make people feel so comfortable, welcomed and loved.

Yes, they are the good looking ones on the left! Hopefully from  the pictures you can tell we were having a good time! Jon and Steph are simply adorable and did such a great job at organising such a great gathering. I think the best part for me, was seeing the integration or the coming together of two separate families in the happiness and joys of the engagement!

Ah, I love weddings and engagements so much. Lately I've been confessing to many of my friends my, as perceived by Vess, Wedding addiction, (she initially used the word fetish, but due to my dislike of Freud, I refrain from doing so!). I simply just LOVE weddings!! so, so, so , so , so much!

There's so much joy, happiness and excitement at weddings but yet underlying it all, is a profound realization that these two people have (or are going to), infront of witnesses, family and friends, commit themselves solely and wholly to one another, 'till death to they part'. It strikes me as such a commitment of faith, hope and love.

Faith in one another, hope for the future and love which binds them together.

Haha, I think I'm getting too deep here for my happy post, but before you go, here's one last pic of the lovely couple!

//HEARTS AND THINGS

Yeah, my mum buys pretty and amazing stockings. She went to Malaysia for our cousin's wedding (which sadly we couldn't attend!!) and came back with many....as my friend said in one of our tutorials..."GLORIOUS STOCKINGS!" He did truly exclaim it in such a way, which sort of made my day!

On the note of outfit posting, I tried posting a 'look' under our blogger email, bigpicturestuff on lookbook yesterday. Unfortunately today I got an email saying that our look could be deleted! Which was quite a real shock for me, I'm still feeling the after effects of it.I felt like I was violating the law or something! Oh well, as Vess said to me, it's a learning curve.

I'm also in love with this song, "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri. It's so emotional and quite heartwrenching but I really love her unique voice. Also a great song to sing to. (Not that I sing, I like to create with my hands, as my friend said to me; "all can sing, but not many can sing wweelllll")

We're going to a friend's engagement party today! So exciting! Praying for the best weather for them!

//my friend ERNIE

Project: To experiment and practice my water colour skills
Aim: To eminate the artsmanship of the previously drawn sesame street picture books
Materials: Watercolour, fineliner and pencil

This post is a bit special, cause I decided to include some of my 'behind the scenes' shots of my crafty endevours.

I just love looking at people's design and personal creating spaces, there's such a nice vibe of inspiration and innovation going on among the paper, glue, paints and disarray!

A little story, the little notebook which you see me writing in, was bought for me from Vess. She wanted me to continue pursuing and enjoying my art by asking (or forcing, depends which way you look at it!) me to draw a picture a day. The picture could be any thing from the bus signs, my room or my food, just as long as I filled up a page.

I have to say, I've been thoroughly enjoying it. And I've learnt the nack of searching and drawing the simple things which foster child like interest within me.

Hopefully you liked my ernie, which serves no purpose, but only to exist and to be enjoyed!

//COLOUR BLOCK

-Val-
Skirt: Glassons
 Shirt: Hand-me-downs from aunty
Bag: Thrifted
Cardigan: Mum's wardrobe
Shoes: Mum's wardrobe

In light of the colour blocking this season, I thought it  would be fun to give it a go. Bright colours, long skirts and structured bags makes for a nice photo session in our lovely neighbourhood.

My incentive to 'colour block' came from bumping into a friend when in Country Road. As we were commenting on the new trends, Steph challenged me to try out colour blocking at church the next day. Sad to say, I forgot to wear bright colours (cause I woke up late!) and steph was left wearing such lovely colours by herself (which looked amazing on her, cause she always looks amazing).

So atone for my 'lack of colour' the previous week, I came up with THIS outfit. It was extremely fun, whipping out all this colourful pieces (which wasn't alot) from my wardrobe and piecing it together.

I also bought this new white bag which really brightens my day.
Ask Vess, I've had my eye on it for a while!

Would love to see you guys trying out some colourful pieces!

On another note, looked at our flag counter today, we've reach over 1000 Australian visitors!!! Thanks for checking our humble blog guys! Love doing this journey of life with you lovely individuals!

//PURPLE

Taken at the Melbourne Food and Wine Exhibition.

Someone had the clever idea of bathing the exhibition centre with purple light, which simply creates a gorgeous warm glow.

But I wonder, why the colour purple?

Googled 'colour purple meaning' and it came up with:

"Violet [purple] is a combination of blue and red.  Red brings practicality to the undirected expansiveness of the blue, and allows more creative energy to emerge. For this reason, violet is associated with imagination and inspiration."

What a nice thought. A thought which I think coincides nicely with  Big Picture Stuff and it's antics!
